Here are some pictures from Lee County's Race. A few from Sat - most from Sun. It rained hard all Sat night, But by 10.30 am Sunday their crews had the track in A-1 condition and ready to race. This has to be one of the best hooking tracks in the East - bar none. My hats off to Darryl - He really knows how to put a track together.

Most of the pictures were taken before the race started - some Sunday morning. Only a brave few (fans) stayed out in the sun all day (it was 95 each day) and most parked on the pit side.

As for the open class cars - ? All I can say is they missed out on one of the best tracks in the country.

I Hear Rumblings Of Poor Truck And Spectator Counts, But Louder Than That I Hear Success. I As A Person Have Always Done What I've Said, I Made A Track That Had The Fluff And Yet The Mass Would Allow Maximum Velosity. I Would Estimate That a 3" Ball Of This Materail Weighed Around 3 lbs. The Only Loosers In this Whole Deal are The Racers That Just Elected To Stay Home. I Feel That A Great racing Surface Went Unused For A Lot Of Guys Out There. I've Always Paid Out What I've Prommised And Always Will. Lee County Mud Motorsports Complex Was Built With The Racer In Mind, Always Fair, Fast, And Fun. I Was Not Hurt That The Spectator Count Was Low, But Was Blown Away That The Racers Would Not Want To Race On A Truley Fast Track, I Know Some Trucks Ran Better Than They Ever Had. When We Started With The Hill&Hole It Was Like That As Well, But We Never Gave Up. As It Would Be, We Have Only Been Open 2 1/2 Years, But Have Paid Out Our Racers Over $250,000.00 If Money Was An Issue The Pay-outs Would Not Be There. It Is The Love Of Mud Motorsports That Keeps Us Going, Even When So Many Would Like For Us To Quit. Many Track Owners Around Here Would Love For Us To Quit So They Could Go Back Paying $100 To Win. All We Want Is For The Racer To Get A Honest Chance At A Honest Purse, And By Standing Up For The racer We Have Taken A Few Shots. Just In Case You Don't Know Our Effect On Mud Racing, We Have Forced The Average Purse Up In Our Region At Least $2000.00 Per Event

hey Doo,

I give you a lot of credit for forging the way for many racers and promotors and with what i have heard about your hill-n-hole races you are a promotor that can make it happen. this will be one of the toughest years for racers and promotors. the closest track that has a class for me was 2 hrs away and they have decided not to run this year due to the low turn out and this is a permanent track with some good facilities. i wish you well with your races. I just wish you were a bit closer. i am thinking about giving up my fall bristol tickets, maybe i will use that gas money to drag the jeep down.

I went there with Kirk Miller and Darrell Galloway once to watch a hill and hole race, and we had to stand the whole time. Stands were full. We got there late and it was a packed house! The show was sure worth the drive!

Part of Darryl's post above hits the "nail on the head" and being there, racing on his track,I agree the only Loosers were the racers that did not show!

Thanks again to Darryl for the best track I have run on in quite awhile.

And that's the bottom line there. Travel costs have had a HUGE impact on the sport. This past weekend, I was at a local bog race & one of the guys was talking about how they were trying to recruit racers from another event a couple weeks back. Those guys said that with gas being as high as it was, SEVENTY-FOUR miles was too far to drive to race Shocked When you start losing guys from just over an hour away, that stinks.

That said, we still had a fantastic turnout because it's a long-standing event with PLENTY of local competition. And so it will be with Fast Track racing at Lee County I suspect. In time, you'll have a great local following & the rest will take care of itself. Great looking place BTW!

You can be sure of one thing.... I wish it would have worked out for us to be there. I knew the track would be great, and we actually had plans to load both cars in my trailer and run down. The DOT and 5$ a gallon diesel are the ONLY reasons we didnt make the trip. I actually got checked by the DOT in my geo tracker ( not even towing anything, just because it has a trailer hitch )last wed. They are nuts around here right now for some reason.

If fuel prices get under control we will see this track and all the others do great. I dont know any sport that is taking the hit very well. The local drag strip is down 75% from last year. After a lot of renovations too.

Sorry we didndt make it there.... it certainly was a much anticipated event for our whole team and really hurt to have to sit home thinking about it!

That being said, Thanks to the "Doo Crew" for putting on this event!

Hey Brenden, I pitted beside Mitch on Saturday so I would not have too far to go to find it. Funny thing though, the front clip never moved all weekend..... Wonder why....
I here you were on Speed channel tonight, whats up, you can't find enough front clips in mud racing
