There is a MRA sanctioned race coming up on June 14th & 15th at the Lee County Motor sports Complex in North Carolina. The owners / Promoters are going all out to make this one of the biggest MRA races this season. If you haven't already - Please check out their web site www.ncmudracing.com for further information. We as racers need to show our full support for this event.

As a side note and to assist the MRA tech people in their work - I ask all racers to please review the General & Safety Rules. These are extremely important for every ones safety. It will make our job easier and maybe - most important - allow you to race your truck at this event. Now is the time to ask any questions and correct any items that may not be in compliance - Not when you get to the track and there is no time.

This also applies to the class rules - Please read them carefully. Any questions? Do you know which class your truck will fit into? What is allowed in each class? What is not? These should be addressed now - While there is still time to make changes to your vehicle.

Not to sound like I am preaching Rolling Eyes But that old saying - the only dumb question - is the one no one asked Shocked still holds true.

I DONT SEE A YEAR (SNELL) RATING FOR HELMETS OR SEAT BELTS WHAT IS THE YEAR RATING FOR THESE ITEMS?
I HAVE SEEN SOME SEAT BELTS THAT LOOK PRETTY BAD!!
A GOOD HELMET IS USELESS WITH A BAD SET OF BELTS.

On the home page. Under SAFETY RULES. sub paragraph - Driver Safety - #5 - A minimum of a 4 point harness, 2 shoulder straps and a lap belt with quick-release, attached to the frame or roll bar. These are minimum requirements. (I see it going to 5 point, with arm or window restraints recommended for 2009).

Mike Miller answered the helmet question for us. on another thread under Helmet. commonly accepted is the Snell 2000 or later specs.

The MRA has not established a time rating for the belts. The safety harness will be checked for cuts and frayed areas, latches checked for operation, mounting hardware checked to make sure they are secure. This is a visual inspection.

Bottom line - If your belts are getting worn and you are not sure they will pass - replace them.
