After some deliberation, it was decided that we would publish the proposed Pit rules and allow discussion for 2 weeks. All of these classes have "names", but for the sake of discussion, we will be referring to them by number - classes 1-8. Class 2 is faster than 1, 3 faster than 2, etc. I find that sometimes when people see a class "name", they have a preconceived notion of what that class is or "should" be. So, the names are off for now & we'll reinsert them once they are complete. Also, please keep some things in mind:

1) Though these are not set in stone, the basic foundation is there. Don't ask to completely revamp a class, don't ask for additional classes to be inserted into the mix, and please don't ask for a class to be split into 2 classes. Minor tweaks are all we're really looking for here.

2) Please try to be concise with your comments & keep them separate. If you want to change 2 things on a class, please try to talk about the 1st change by itself & the 2nd one by itself rather than mixing them up together.

3) If you don't see "your" class here, do not panic. If we were to cover 95% of the trucks out there with classes, we'd have at least 40 classes. That isn't practical. We would expect the majority of promoters out there to look at these 8 classes and say, "Gee, there's only 3 or 4 of these I can even use". Some, not even that many. We encourage every group out there to use as many of these as you can, and keep as many of your own local classes as necessary. The odds of all these classes working for your local group will be pretty slim.

4) The 3 fastest classes here are not typically utilized in bog pits in many parts of the country. Just because you see this class listed here, don't assume your local promoter is going to run these classes or anything like them.

5) Don't assume a "majority opinion" on this discussion board constitutes a change. Only the reps have the authority to make changes. And the people who will comment on these rules will represent only a tiny fraction of the racers who will have to live with them. We've already researched out as many rules as possible, and collected countless comments from all over the country. So, if 20 guys get on here & say, "I think the tire size in class 3 should be ___" and nobody disagrees, DO NOT assume that's what will happen. All of the proposed rules are in place for a reason. If we can make a change to these rules that will help some guys WITHOUT hurting those the class was designed for, it might happen. Regardless, we WILL take a look at all your suggestions, and we will take these suggestions very seriously.

6) Try to keep the discussion on topic. I will start a separate thread for each of the 8 classes. Please don't make class 5 comments in the class 3 thread, etc.

7) Please, try to refrain from asking, "Why would you do that?" regarding these classes. Again, we have reasons for all of the rules. And rather than a back & forth arguement, we will try to keep the comments limited to "suggested changes".

Cool I'm not posting these rules until tonight, so please don't go looking for them now Smile

Thank you! This is exactly what I am looking for. I know it will take some time for local tracks to adopt, but I will do what I can to help. I'm just starting out, so I'm at a good spot to "tweak" my truck to fit the closest class. Bottom line = the MRA needs to be commended for what they are putting together. I know you can't please everyone, but keep up the great work. Thanks again!

Week 1 of 2 is gone & so far, I have the following suggestions:

General points
*Specifically outlaw nitrous, superchargers, turbos, and injection where not permitted.
*Do away with all the weight minimums.
*Increase the weight minimums on all but class 5.

Class 1
*Comment was that the vacuum requirement was too high – no alternative suggested.

Class 2

*permit body swaps with correct wheelbase
*redo leaf spring wording to permit other OEM style suspensions
*Remove vacuum requirements, but put 3” limit on exhaust
*Headlights & taillights may be removed, but must be covered

Class 3

*Reduce tire size to 37”

Class 4
*Increase engine setback from 6” to 12” from center of front axle to #1 plug
*permit aluminum engine blocks
*reduce the weight minimum (no # suggested)

Class 5*Reduce the weight minimum (no # suggested)

Class 6
*Outlaw paddle tires
*Outlaw injection
*150” wheelbase max.
*Remove tether kill switch requirement

Class 7

*Remove tether kill switch requirement

Class 8
*Remove tether kill switch requirement

Note, some of these suggestions came off other bulletin boards, some were e-mailed to me, some pm'd, etc. So, if you don't see them in the discussion here, that's why they're still included at proposed changes. And if I've missed any, please PLEASE let me know.

Scott, in class 4 we need a vote to change the wording of the rule on stock type differentials to allow the differentials you and I discussed, just so there is no confusion.

Also on the seat rule, maybe change it to allow the seat to be moved to the center and to the rear no more than 84" from front differential.

Looks like the pit rules are coming along really well. I just wanted to thank everyone involved. I like the approach in discussing them before putting in the finial wording. Well though out. Very Happy
I can also tell there was a lot of hard work put into them - Again my hats off to Scott and all the rest that are making this work. Smile Smile
