Helmets used for racing must be approved by the Snell Foundation with Snell sticker 2000 or later Special Application (SA2000), or by the SFI with a SFI Sticker 31.1a for open faced helmets and a SFI sticker 31.2a for closed faced (if purchased prior to 12/31/04), SFI 31.1 (if purchased after 1/1/05), or by the FIA standard 8860-2004

Snell M2000 rated helmets are the standard for use in motorcycling and
are not suitable for types of auto racing. these have no fire protection.

Snell "SA" (Sports Application) rated professional helmets provide extreme impact resistance and have a nomex liner for higher fire protection. SA2000 helmets are the standard for competitive automotive sports.

The lastest Helmets have SA2005 Snell rating.

Driver Safety: Check safety harness for proper *expiration dates (that could save you having to go home because your belt dates are expired, they are good for two years from date punched on the label);most racing association ahere to this rule, are the harness mounts still in good shape; are the belts rubbing metal or getting frayed edges.

Just remember that if you offer yourself the best protection you are also protecting your family and your job as missed income from an injury affects them all.

*Mra rules do not have a time line on the expiration dates of a Harness.
